Dandelion Leaf Tea

Dandelion Leaf Tea

Dandelion Leaf, much like its root counterpart - is good for the liver and may help to suppress fat accumulation within that organ of the body.

Compounds within this herb include Thiamin, Riboflavin, Calcium, Magnesium, Beta-Carotene, Zinc and Iron. Dandelion Leaf also contains more Protein than spinach, more Vitamin A than carrots and more Potassium than bananas.

This tea can be slightly bitter so some will counter this with honey, a touch of Stevia, or Raspberry Leaf.

organically grown India

How to make Dandelion Leaf Tea?

  1. Bring water to heat, but not boil. This will help avoid bitterness.
  2. Add one teaspoon.
  3. Milk is not recommended. Honey or Stevia is optional.

Health benefits

Traditional natural diuretic: supports healthy fluid balance and mild water retention.

Compared to harsher diuretics, potassium-rich may maintain normal blood pressure/electrolyte balance.

Mild bitter action may awaken appetite and ease digestion.

Support general wellness/cellular defence with antioxidant polyphenols.

Cautionary notes

Diuretics and lithium - dandelion leaves as diuretic herb may interact with diuretics and lower lithium levels - consult a doctor if taking these medicines.

Warfarin/anticoagulants: leaves naturally high in vitamin K may interfer with warfarin - consult your doctor & monitor INR -.

Kidney or heart conditions: use with caution if you suffer from kidney disease, heart failure or oedema or are taking fluid / electrolyte affecting medications.

If you have gallstones or obstructed bile duct consult your professional before using.

Allergies: avoid if allergic to plants of the Asteraceae (daisy) family; discontinue if adverse symptoms occur.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding: likely safe as a food herb in normal amounts but for regular therapeutic use see a healthcare professional.
